Somebody up there likes me.
“Unbroken” - a film about Louis Zamperini 1917-2014 starring Jack O’Connell. Louis competed for the USA in the 5000m at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. The film covers his childhood and athletic career until he enlisted in the army. It then moves on to his time in a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp where one particular sadistic guard picked on him after learning of his athletic prowess.
There was a sequel starring another actor about Zamperini about how he spent many, many days on a small boat in the middle of a scorching ocean with 2 or 3 other prisoners facing peril from the sun, lack of food and water etc. It then goes on to his later life. Both films are well worth a watch.
