Thread: Gone Fishing With Whitehouse and Mortimer

Gone Fishing With Whitehouse and Mortimer

Whilst I find salmon and fly fishing boring and cannot be arsed waiting six hours for a carp in Roath Park to play ball , fishing is so relaxing

And those two are funny guys , Mortimer having the edge

Being by the water is great

Which is why I have bought a six foot by four foot inflatable paddling pool for my garden

I watched all the series during lockdown and really enjoyed them. The Xmas special was the best thing I saw over the holidays, worth it for crazy grumpy Chris Rea turning up and barely understanding what was going on.

That said I have absolutely no intention of going fishing, I eat fish but I like the way they put nearly all of them back in the water.

    .....and away

Oops didn't realise he'd been ill, just thought he was grumpy. I suppose he fitted in with their health related chats

It can't be easy putting a fish back safely if you are fishing from a beach? Excuse my lack of angling knowledge

Coarse fishing .......fishing from ponds , lakes and rivers ......in your case Port Talbot docks ......is better for the fish but they still get stressed

But fishing from the beach , aberavon jackstones pier , the long arm of port Talbot, from rocks etc into the sea is into deep water ......by the time fish , small ones especially are brought in they have been knocked about and a lot don't survive even if they do go back alive

I see plenty casting from the beach at Aberavon too. Was down Monknash the other day, that's a lovely spot when the tide is right.

Not sure the programme is about fishing anymore tbf. Just 2 middle aged blokes having a laugh.

They are certainly not as skilful has Robson Green.

I agree with you about the programme although not with your description of them being “middle aged “

I watched Jackie Charlton take about 2 hours to catch a Marlin then proceed to belt **** out of it when he got it on deck. It was both sickening and hilarious at the same time.

He set a record for catching the biggest salmon in Iceland in 2021. In white water rapids. None of this fly fishing on the river Usk.
