I’m right behind England doing the decent thing and pulling out, giving their place to Ukraine.

I don't think Southgate needs lecturing from anyone in the Qatari regime though. I hope there are similar noises coming from our camp if we get that far.

Did you read what he had to say?

Who? The Qatari? Yes. I know Qatar well - I worked there for 2 years. His words rang hollow.

I was just curious. Obviously a PR exercise then?

I knky asked if you'd read it as you hadn't commented on what he had to say, I found what he had to say surprising, so was surprised not to see anyone else comment on it (if that makes sense)

I'm not sure. I saw many from places like Sri Lanka treated very badly (in terms of working and living conditions). I left 10 years ago admittedly. Maybe some I saw are now sending their kids to Uni now - as he claims. It didn't feel to me that that was how things were going to pan out though.

Interesting listen that was. He was definitely a little rattled

Louis van Gaal has also been critical, as has the Netherlands FA. https://www.skysports.com/football/n...d-cup-in-qatar

That's not strictly true is it Nasser? You're kinda underselling the consequences mate.

Ironically, he's a guy that really needs a hug.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if all nations did boycott the whole thing

It would. But you can guarantee that England would step in at the last minute and offer Wembley as an alternative host stadium so they could play all of their games at home. Again.

    Not bitter about it

Sounds like you are pushing back against someone demanding that words are chosen carefully for good reason for a change!

Blatter and his corrupt cronies knew they had a small window of opportunity to maximise their ill gotten gains by a double award of World Cups to Russia and Qatar. The die is cast but it does not make it more palatable.

The sportswashing bit has been well documented. If Wales make it we will be the last known qualifier and the team looking for a base and anyone wanting to attend will have to find a route and accommodation after 30 other qualifiers have nailed down theirs in one of the more difficult destinations to transit into once direct flights are full.
