I have no idea if that's a good or bad appointment.
Anyone have any idea what his platform/policies are likely to be?
Banging their desks like they’re still in school, the party who’ve been behaving like a bunch of petulant school children are now on relaunch no. 563 - Sunak seems to be about as good as it gets for the Tory’s these days, but he’s been fined like Johnson and didn’t cover himself in glory during the summer election with some of his remarks to Conservative party members.
No idea either.
He did seem to tell it as it is, in terms of what would need to be done, when he stood last time. But he's been elected without having to say what his policies would be.
I would guess much the same as what Hunt as already announced, from a financial point of view.
Don't think he'll pull all the Tories together though, so the sh**show is likely to continue to an extent at least.
You have to feel bad for Penny. She’ll have to wait until December to be Prime Minister.
Sunak is as centrist, and his politics are going to be rather dull and boring. He also has the confidence of the city and has a good working relationship with the BoE and HMT. If the markets were spooked by Trust and Kwasi Kwarteng, they will be reassured by Sunak.
If a week is a long time in politics, then two years is forever. For those saying Labour will win the next election, I wouldn't close the book just yet.
One thing is for sure, with three female PMs and now a person of colour, there is no doubt the Tories are far more socially progressive than any other Western political party.
Good in the sense that he will likely bring more stability to please the markets.
Bad in the sense that the long term growth prospects *may* suffer, and the tax cuts you may or may not have been looking forward to are far less likely to materialise.
Overall it's moderately good news. In just a few days they have replaced the PM and thats good for the country.
Needless to say, not everyone will be happy.
Frees up Mordaunt to take over from Hudson too.
He's the Manchurian candidate for you know who.
I mean since the brexit vote many europeans lost confidence in the UK. But now...j h christ! what a shit show the last few years have been. Bumbling Toff top shagger johnson lying on a daily basis...followed by the school prefect that everyone hated and nearly broke the country... and now Rishi who will conveniently change the laws giving his wealthy family carte blanche to piss in your eyes while making billions.Get yourselves some respect and take to the streets and protest before the Tories literally throw you into jail for saying you're english.
I know shouldn't but I wonder if the answer is the same one you pondered over 430 pages on why someone called Donald J Trump who, supposedly has a fortune of $3.2 billion would want to be the President of the United States on a salary of $400k a year. Seems your stupidity has not abated in my break!
It was the worst flounce ever, and now he's totally discarded his own principles in favour of a meaningless snipe. I could have responded by pointing out that the Trump thread was all about a couple of propagandist agitators trying to convince anybody who would listen that the Russia collusion hoax was real, but I would never do a thing like that!
Hi Bob,
Yes, health fine. Though I had a double clot shot of flu and my 6th Covid on the week end. Mildish side effects. Arms a bit swollen, which if you are 8ft 9 with jet black eyes is a bit more noticeable than before my growth spurt.
I think flounce is fair enough. Managing a few family issues gets you a bit more thin skinned when racists seemed to be getting an easy ride. Still, allows me to catch up on all the nonsense posted in my absence.
Climate Change lockdown ffs!! What the hell are they?
