    Barry Town United

Great to see Barry promoted back to the Cymru Premier as champions after their win today.

    Re: Barry Town United

Yes, good to see. Barry is a place that should always have a team at Cymru Premier level.

Great news. Wasn't so long ago S.E.Wales was a desert in the Welsh Prem.

Pleased for Lee Kendall, nice lad, who's done a great job there since being appointed manager.

Unforeseen won’t be anywhere near enough for all the plastics in Barry to give up supporting the surly scousers.

Typical, when Llantwit won the league last season we were denied promotion but now Barry Big bollocks win it , up you go.

It's not like Jenner Park is better prepared to meet the ground regulations than Windmill Lane

Rhodri Williams linked with buying the club with some USA investor (movie stars. possibly Superman ) They are all at it now , We will be the cheapest fart on the bus soon. If we could get Russ abott or Syd little from "little and large (rip) involved we might start going places.

Back in the day, I don't recall "United" being in the club's name. Did they go bust and get rebranded or something?
For years they were owned by a husband & wife partnership... O'Halloran (sic?).
When the football league clubs were no longer allowed to qualify for Europe through winning the Welsh Cup, Barry seemed to dominate the competition and became the media darlings for a period.

There are one or two Barry people on here who would know better than I but basically yes.

Cant remember the exact course of events but the fact that a Welsh team could get to play in Europe if they won the Welsh League was a big carrot which from memory was the start of their demise.
Barry left the Southern League (or whatever it was called at the time but basically the English pyramid) to joint the Welsh setup but things went sour (I think Neil O'Halloran had passed by this time) and eventually were bought by a bloke called Lovering who i believe wasn't too popular with their supporters and certainly nowhere near as generous as the O'Hallorans.

Neil O’Halloran scored a top flight hat trick for the City on his debut while still a teenager in the 50s against Charlton. The highlight of his brief career. Not a bad highlight though.

Are there any other teams with 2 identifiers after the place name?

My order of checking results back in the day was
    CCFC
    Swansea
    County
    Wrexham
    Merthyr
    Barry Town

    Now it’s
    CCFC
    Wrexham
    Merthyr
    County
    Swansea
    Barry.

Well done to both Barry and Merthyr and of of course Wrexham on their seasons so far.

Barry town now linked with Barry barsteward, Wants a Ryan R type experience but at half the price(fraction tbh) It's the new Hollywood thing, buy a cheap welsh club. We aren't getting any attention tho due to are owner being Chinese
