Australia look a much better balanced side, Stokes’ inability to be more than an occasional bowler means that England really need four seamers plus a specialist spinner, so, at one down in the series, I’d say a batsman had to drop out - don’t get why Wood’s not playing and England’s tail looks quite a long one.
id have dropped Stokes to be honest and brought Foakes in at 7. Unless you can get more overs out of stokes hes really a sitting duck in that team (captaincy aside)
Move over ladies let the real Ashes commence
Stokes has the temperament to open the batting in place of Duckett , perhaps this could be an option?

The Aussies having a decent session this am despite the weather and protests.
Win this one and the series is over.
Smith and Head putting on a clinic here, England better start praying for rain.
Not watched too much of it today, but Kevin Pietersen is really tearing into England - I’ve no time for him as a pundit, but much of what he is saying is being repeated on Test Match Special.
Can't help but think that picking both Broad and Anderson for this test was done out of sentiment. Bowlers have to be rotated throughout the series, and if this Test wasn't their final Lords Ashes Test, I doubt that both would have been picked.
Love it if they can get 500+ but think it'll be a bit less.
That one over from Root has given England a chance and Head and Green will be kicking themselves for throwing their wickets away.
Stokes only bowled three, very expensive, overs I see - in a way, Bazball is secondary to England being an unbalanced team because their captain, their best player in recent years in my opinion, has lost his bowling and the selectors have got themselves in a right mess trying to compensate for this.
Luckily a couple of weird shots in one over from Root stopped it being totally disastrous. Tongue bowled some good balls but was inconsistent. Jimmy looks near gone I'm afraid. As for Robinson giving it the big un and mouthing off, it's embarrassing. He's like Derek Pringle without a brain
Thought Australia missed a trick by not declaring with half an hour to play.
i got a feeling they will keep at it to to rub it in and get as many as possible with starc back in the team as well more chance of bowling them out
