Listen Billy bollocks , England have a good side at the moment and they may or may not finally win something but it will be nothing to do with the Premier league

It started in 1993 or thereabouts

30 years .......they will probably have a party and you might like to go

But I am not interested in blowing smoke up their arse like so many on here

The idea that the Premier league has improved the standard of football across the board because of the influence of all this great ......enormously paid more like .....number of players is cobblers

    It's all about making money

Bellingham, best England player in a generation. Blues fans were singing his praises as a 16 year old. Right career path and he’ll continue to improve.

They've come up against a decent team, like them or not England have some excellent players at this time, Scotland are a pub team compared.

Maybe the influence of coaches like Wenger, Guardiola, Mourinho, etc also had something to do with it.

He's only just turned 20, and already scored five in four games for Real Madrid, from midfield.

The sky is the limit for him. An outstanding player.

The fact Bellingham is only 20 is pretty scary. An old head on young shoulders, what a talent.

Yep he makes so many good decisions, and has the technique to make it work.

He comes across so well when interviewed.

Have to be honest I quite like the England squad, there's not anywhere near enough bellends in the team for me to dislike them.

Some Scottish chanting was in poor taste so quite happy seeing that third goal which was well worked tbf.

Also, if you're trying to win an argument, childish name-calling is not a great starting point. Neither is making assumptions about other people and trotting out cliches. You also might want to think about adding some substance instead of just going on the same angry rant.

    No he isn't

You are all slaves to the marketing nonsense of the Premier league

If the Premier league , its managers and players are so great how come the England team hasn't won a thing since its been up and running

In a few years this current crop of useful youngsters will be in zimmer frames

Media pressure and a long-may-it-continue track record for failure in penalty shootouts. Leads to being perennial bottlers.
I don't think that's related to the PL

    Spain a few years back

    Incredible team

    Some incredible young players

They left everyone in the starting blocks

Was that down to the influence on the younger players of highly paid , highly skilled outsiders into the Spanish league ?

Was the German side of a decade ago , tipped by many to win honours and full of superb youngsters , so good because of the influx of foreign imports into the bundesliga .....which forced German youngsters to sharpen up ?

If the Premier League was as liquid gold as its suggested then even the penalty shoot outs would be a forgone conclusion

Or indeed Premier league players would be so good that they wouldn't have to go to penalty shoot outs to win games .....they would do it in normal times

It's all a con and a fantasy . If England do manage to win a major tournament then what's going to be the excuse if it's another 30 years till the next one ?

Because despite improving massively they haven't been quite good enough, They were a top 16 team now they are probably a top 6 to 4 team, Having a massively improved premier league has improved England and Wales National teams.

Also, any team needs an element of luck to win a cup competition, the best team in the World doesn't always win the World Cup, or the European Championships, not that England are the best team in the World.

Well it sounds like you have believed the hype as well

You are saying a ......massively improved Premier league ....your words .....has massively improved the Welsh national side ?

So by your logic, if 3 players had scored their penalties a few years ago, then you would agree the premier league has improved the England team/English football?

No , if the Premier league was as tip top as people think the players wouldn't have needed penalties to defeat other teams

And maybe not even extra time

    Re: Scotland v England

Its the building of St Georges Park and the focus on youth football that's put England where they are now. Whether thats from premier League money, or maybe the Olympics (it was built in 2012), but the current team have played at youth levels and won tournaments.

Here's a good (old) article about the impact of the the national centre, and the difference it has had at youth levels and comparing it to the last golden generation.

So why do you think England have started doing so much better in recent tournaments, and have such quality creative and technical young players coming through?
