It's never too early for a beer. Sprits, yes. But never beer.
6pm on a normal working day. Lunchtime in the pub when going to a home match on a weekend. Earlier if going away on the train.
I see it as a relaxing reward after completing the daily work / tasks.
Have in the past been for a lunchtime pint but it knocks me out unless I'm going to the game or to be on it all day.

during lockdown I had a never before 10am rule it just seemed wrong before 10

Must admit I’m a few beers in but have the excuse of being in Saigon and stumbled across a tap room with some very good local brews.
Amazed to see how many people having a beer at the 'spoons when i go in for a breakfast, I suppose airport rules apply.
