Not climate but weather. Weather is changing like the climate.
Never seen anything like this last 15 days - continuous gales and heavy rain. In past years a storm (with a fancy name from the UK or Ireland) swept over for 3-4 days; some damage; a few days of news reports; then gone.
This time it just won't move - even though various weather and news reports say it headed for Denmark last week - it didn't. Still blowing at 45 mph now (and it has died down).
Now lost 7 fence panels and 3 fence posts and anything not nailed down outside. The carnage in the neighbours gardens is worse.
At least it blew us 3 points yesterday - so not all bad!
Warmest Christmas eve since 1997.
We hardly seem to have a winter anymore.
Maybe in the depths of Windystan in Googleshire where the gales blow for 3 months solid.
But not in South Yorkshire. Never seen winds like these.
Things are changing - and not for the better!
Don't start me on rain and flooding or I might have to switch back from weather to climate. You know what happens then!
Not put the radiators on first thing in the morning on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Ridiculous!
Lit a log fire last evening for atmosphere....not needed. Today was supposed to be misty and cloudy which I thought Great!!! Turns out a lovely sunny day - ok for shirtsleeves...no fire today!
My job is to cook the dinner...apart from the meat (which I don't eat...)...so roast potatoes and parsnips all par boiled and ready to go in 30 mins.....Salmon en Croute for me......Glad tidings to all and sundry, wherever you are in this world.
love the way the weather reporters make thing up last night the low pressure system passing through was named as a weather splat
When I was a lad a day like today would have been described as wet and windy. Nowadays it has to be called a STORM for extra dramatic effect!
any pensioners / gofer on here remember the winter of 63 ?
The incredible snow of 1963 was one of the coldest winter’s on record in the UK. pic.twitter.com/67TJPIYnpq
