Didn't watch it, but surely two eyes on the League and glad to go out?

I'm sure that's how some fans will spin it, even some of ours seem happy at an early exit of 2/3 of the competitions we enter.

I'm almost certain that's not how klopp will see it. They had already had 8 matches in the competition. A European competition and a quarter final I think they will still go all out in the 2nd leg.

Will be a bit amusing listening to the couple in work this afternoon.

They were considerable favourites to win the whole thing, the only team left that arguably could’ve caused them problems is Leverkusen.

Had to look it up. Surprising result. Although I didn't bother looking at the team selection. I wonder if Liverpool ever lost to a team Merthyr beat before. Maybe us? Swansea?

Aye. It's not proper football. Looks nowt like the stuff we play I can tell thee.

Maybe us? We’ve got a good record against them. Did them 4-0 at Anfield in Shankly’s first game. He actually said said ‘We must aspire to be more like Cardiff City ‘.

Yes, shame, but as it's financially-cheating Man City I can live with it.

Yeah that’s not the way sport works, especially football.

Quite right. We'd have been promoted by now had that been the case.

I don't think there is a football team in the world that has spent more money than Real Madrid since time began.

Are they the richest club in the world ?

I think they have the most fans , if that is measurable

Man City are actually the richest club in the world. I'd be surprised if Real Madrid weren't the biggest. They have had years of sustained success. They've won the European Cup/Champions League 14 times! And they're very popular with Spanish-speaking people here and in South America. That's a LOT of people.

An annoying local armchair United " fan " is always telling me united are the biggest

    Support , trophies , income

    Barcelona are huge

Disagree, absolute masterclass in defending. Madrid came with a plan and acted on it flawlessly, brilliant performance. Man City were at home and did nothing until panic set in. Madrid hardly broke a sweat, they could still be playing and man city wouldn't have scored!

If the easy chance for De Bruyne went in or Man City went through on penalties, would you still say it was a 'masterclass'.

The reason Madrid went through wasn't tactical nous but sheer dumb luck.

Imagine imagine imagine, flawed, has no sense! Imagine De Bruyne scored and Madrid changed tactics in an instant and went and scored 30, to inflict the biggest ever champions league defeat ever. Just imagine that!

Madrid knew they had to score to have any chance of going through, but also knew that if they went toe to toe with man city they'd lose. Absolutely flawless game plan, that worked and they went through! On another day maybe Man City score 2 or 3 (and Madrid reply like they did in the 1st leg) but last night they didn't.

The defense won out over the attack, and the fact man city had all that possession in the areas they did but never really threatened is why i think the better team on the night eventually went through. Madrid were not lucky.

On Carlo Ancelotti grave stone it'll read, 'a lucky football manager with no tactical nous'

he reason so many Spanish supporters dis like RM is because they are perceived to be propped up by the Spanish government. (They are considered by some, specially Catalans to be Right wing policies by other means. Without that support they might not have the clout they do.) This has been going on since Franco's time, when he wanted to distract people from political unrest.
