    The episode in the pub, when he sticks the nut on Shake Hands, is just one of so many brilliant scenes. Some really funny, and some very poignant moments.
    Filmed before it came a way of life for some folk to sign on. RIP

    He's the only actor to have appeared in 2 films that each received 11 Oscar nominations.
    For me though he'll be best remembered for Boys from the Blackstuff.

    He was also a match going football supporter.

    His portrayal of Yosser Hughes captured the UK at that time vividly.

    Can't be a kid who went to school in the 80s who didn't mimic "Gis a job" although the meaning may have gone over their head?
