Cardiff City to sign Ciaron Brown?

    Who he? This is who:

Cardiff City are in talks to sign non-league ace Ciaron Brown, sources have told TEAMtalk.

The Wealdstone defender has been on the radar of a host of Championship and League 1 clubs and he has trained with a number of them, including Sheffield Wednesday.

However, TEAMtalk has learnt that promotion chasing Cardiff are in pole-position to land the 20-year-old, who can play full-back or centre-half.

Neil Warnock has liked what he has seen of the young defender and believes a move could prove a shrewd piece of business.

Cardiff are now in talks with National League South Wealdstone and are hopeful they will soon confirm a deal.

If this is true I assume Ciaron Brown is one of those younger 'lads' that Warnock said he wanted to recruit when he was asked about Rolf Feltscher.

"But he’s a free agent so we could take him straight away if we wanted to because we’re looking at couple of lads, a couple of young ones as well as we’re trying to supplement the Under-23s at the moment. I think we need three or four lads in I’ve mentioned to the chairman and Vincent Tan is supportive as well".

Cardiff and Birmingham also reported to be watching Greek defender Kostas Triantafyllopoulos

That would be a great signing, if only for the sight of the name going three times around his shirt!

When we are in the play offs ,we will have 9 central defenders all standing in a straight line, booting the ball up to Ken, bit like those table football games

Ciaron Brown played for our under-23s in the shambolic game against Hull earlier in the season, (Callum Paterson's comeback game, here's TOBW's report on it - http://mauveandyellowarmy.net/callum...23s-to-defeat/)

He had a tough night and I don't remember him playing again for us but it looks like we must've been keeping tabs on him if Jon1959's linked article is correct.

Table football actually plays with a very aggressive 2-5-3 formation.

Not mine , I took all the midfielders players and attackers off the middle and first bar 's except for my lone striker and affixed them all to the defenders bar , I remain undefeated to this day

Thanks for linking that, here are the comments I made specifically about Brown;-

"Brown was all at sea in the first half, but then, to be fair to him, so were his nine outfield team mates, most of whom had the supposed advantage of having played and trained together for the past few years."

"Wealdstone’s Ciaron Brown was given a trial by Sheffield Wednesday in July and last night he was one of three trialists in the City squad for the 2-1 defeat by Hull – the trialists City have used this season tend to get two games to make their case for a contract and so he may have another opportunity after a somewhat mixed time of it against Hull."

"Strangely, Ciaron Brown revealed an ability to bring the ball our from the back and pass it quite well when he was in a centreback pairing that wasn’t there when he was one of three at the back – he also looked more assured in his general defensive work when in a back four."

We did have a trialist on the bench in our next match, at Burnley, but I couldn't find anything to indicate it was Brown or that he got on the pitch.
