Gun control will never happen , you cant control or change peoples culture its like trying to stop beheadings/stonings in the middle East .
They could though change thier approach by heavier taxation on buying them , and fund better security entry systems and people , as in airports, drastic yes ,doable probaly.

I don't think you would find close a majority for confining the defunct 2nd amendment to the annals history but there is appetite for some level of control. The number of guns in America has doubled in 20 years but the average gun owner has 8 guns, only 32% of households have a gun. What we are seeing here is a very vocal and well organised minority ruling the roost, they will need to be flexible.
The 'teachers have guns' thing is such a load of rubbish. So they just have to accept that people will run into schools with guns and their only hope is to neutralise the threat early on? American parents must look around the western world and think 'why does this happen nowhere else?'.
Gun control doesn't mean ban all guns.
And people don't tend to like heavier taxes. How much tax would you need to put on guns to fund security at all schools? 500%?
