Thread: Best female lead singer?

    Best female lead singer?

I'm sure most would say Debbie Harry or maybe Stevie Nicks.

My personal favourite would be Delores O'Riorden

Actually you’re right with all of those additional caveats, but Pauline Murray certainly improved the punk scene from an attractiveness point of view. It also helped that Penetration had some great stuff as well...was gutted when they split up

Martha Reeves, of Martha & The Vandellas, Gladys Horton, of the Marvelettes, or Carolyn Gill of the Velvelettes. Loads of great female singers from the 60s soul era! In the rock world it has to be Janis Joplin and Grace Slick

Lots of good singers mentioned so far. However you can hardly say, for example, that Janis Joplin was better than Sandy Denny or vice versa as they had completely different voices singing in different genres.
