    I turned on BBC 1 Northern Ireland a couple of nights ago in order to watch the interview with the IRA member who was involved in the bombing of Birmingham (as the programme went out almost an hour later) - and I caught the end of their news.
    The marches, the bonfires, the reactions and the almost impenetrable accents made it seem like a totally different culture to our own (which it is in many ways, I suppose). Very foreign indeed.

    Seems a completely different culture to the Republic of Ireland too; Northern Ireland can seem like some weird backwards middle earth of a place.
