I quite like that quote "Having a succession plan in place is a necessary part of football, irrespective of how the team are performing."

The problem with appointing someone like Warnock is that you end up kicking the can a year down the road. He might keep you up, but he's not going to sort out the reasons you were there to begin with. Warnock leaves early the following season and within a couple of months you're in a worse place than a year before.
