Me too, I was on the losing side, that's what democracy is all about, absolutely shameful the way some people are trying to reinvent democracy.

No. a referendum is a single vote on a single issue and those signed up to it agree to abide by the outcome. Politicians trying to stop us leaving are in contempt of the voters.

It would be like the EU telling Ireland to vote again when the voted against something to do with the euro (I think). They said vote again and then a top EU bureaucrat said, "And they will have to keep voting until they get the right result."
    Is that what you want?

I work in project management, and for any project you always reappraise the case for doing it at each major juncture.
Things change, more information becomes available, other opportunities arise.

What's absolutely shameful is the way Theresa May is running the country.

Theresa May's deal has been heavily defeated twice in about six weeks, but her attitude appears to be to bludgeon that electorate into accepting it and she won't stop having votes on it until they do - surely that's more a case of democracy being reinvented than wanting to have another vote on a subject that was put to the people of this country nearly three years ago?

I wasn't referring to her deal which may be shite, but the people who are trying yo stop brexit altogether even thought they voted in parliament to trigger article 50 in the first place.

I agree with you 100%. I am the same.
We voted in a referendum. It is binding on the politicians.
they have a duty to deliver.

On normal bills and things each MP can vote as he sees fit, but with a referendum he doesn't. Anyone in parliament attempting to stop it should be removed for obstructing the will of the people.

It was an advisory referendum, if it was mandatory the ECJ would have ruled it invalid due to the interference in the leave campaign. I don't want a 2nd ref, I don't think it's helpful and will divide the country even more but if it's no deal or 2nd ref, I'm all for it. Let's just take Norway Plus and be done with it.

The Referendum was not legally binding. More’s the pity because if it had been it would have been ruled as unsafe due to the illegal activities of the Leave campaign.

Re: Stay in the EU petition

    The referendum was

    NOT LEGALLY BINDING.

    Why is that important?

Because it allowed campaigners to break rules. If the referendum was legally binding, then the result would have been null and void.

People talk about democracy, but I can guarantee that absolutely no ****er voted for the deal that Theresa May has signed up for. It suits none of us. It ****s us over completely. But, some people just want fewer Polish neighbours. Is democracy just letting one stupid ****ing bitch get her own ****ing way? Or are people just thinking "we're out" as if it as simple as they ****ing well are.

    Twats.

Is this in the non-binding, advisory referendum?

Only 17million out of about 46m eligible to vote actually voted to leave and there was nothing in the bill that called the referendum saying it was binding. It was one of Cameron's cock ups. It is usual to have minimum turnouts and to specify that not only must the minimum turnout must met but there must be a majority of at least 60% for the referendum to be binding. If Cameron had enacted that we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

PS MPs don't normally vote as they see fit, they vote according to how they are whipped by their party.

Is it democracy when you're lied to and manipulated by people in power?

And is it democracy when the result is in question because of fraudulent activity.
