BBC are now saying "Due to a frozen pitch"
sounds like Derby are changing their story.

Yeah , saw that just now. Frozen pitch at Pride park, no undersoil heating or preparation for a sky game with snow forecast?

They do have Under soil heating, but Michael's right, the ref would have the final say on whether the match went ahead surely?

They called it of at about 8am, surely the ref wouldn't have even been there then.

Edit: Also, Derby police saying decision was made by the club.

The whole way it was postponed was very “unconventional”. First it was a tweet by something called DCFC Rams Police, whoever they are. Then it was at least half an hour later when Derby Counties official twitter feed announced it.

Yeah of course , but the original reason given was not the state of the pitch, that has come later .The original reason given was,

Following persistent heavy snowfall in Derby overnight, the surrounding areas at Pride Park Stadium have been left in an unsafe condition for supporters, staff and officials.

It is starting to smell very iffy.

A new match date will be communicated to supporters in due course on dcfc.co.uk.

The ref only makes the call on the pitch conditions not the safety conditions in the ground & surrounding areas.

Well, Derby are now saying it was called off because of a frozen pitch despite them having undersoil heating - if the game was called off without a pitch inspection, then there has to be an enquiry.

The ref has the final call on the game regarding the safety & ability for the game to progress (frozen, waterlogged, fog, etc), but the Safety Advisory Group (which should include the club safety & security chiefs, police & council safety people) have the say on the safety of persons traveling / attending the area.
