OK well here's a quick thing that might help.
Right click on a blank part of the bottom toolbar and select "Task Manager" then click on the Start-up tab.
Look in the list for any programs that do not need to be running on startup and right click them and disable them.
This should speed you up a bit if there's a lot of programs running in the background that don't need to be.
