Different circumstances, Rodriguez will only be available to a handful of clubs in European football, the club want to move him on to bring some superstars in. The player is more than likely playing hardball to force the Bayern move. I would imagine that the loan fee and the wages are large.
Would people rather Ross Barkley or siggurdson?
Siggy over Barkley for me and by a distance. Without him the Swans would have been relegated on a couple of occasions. I doubt Barkley would have had the same impact.
Turns out it is 4.4m annual loan fee and a final price of 31m.

Bayern are ridiculously good at getting players.
They are about to sell Douglas Costa to Juve. He is out of favour with bayern and their fans don't like him. It is going to be worth more than the above loan/buy deal.
Are Swansea touting their prized asset in the hope of recouping a few million? Sigurdsson has suggested he thinks he should be at a better club, which will drop his price somewhat. With prices in the top flight as crazy as they are at present they might get £30 million for him, but it looks very likely that he's on his way.
They'll get 50m, someone is already bidding 40m. He's a proven PL player, and if Leicester etc sign him, they get the added bonus of directly weakening a rival. Personally, I haven't taken enough notice but I wouldn't sell Sigurdsson for any amount. He's not thrown his toys out of the pram and he's their best player by an absolute mile.
Sir Spew: "Weve turned down 40m. Only bids of 30m will be acceptable"

So if we'd all take Siggurdson over Barkley then why should Swansea accept less than Everton, reportedly, want for Barkley?
50 million shows how stupidly inflated the UK market is but if you're playing by stupid rules you best not lose by them.
I'd have Barkley by a mile. He is 23.
When he comes good he is going to be quality.
The money sloshing around is ridiculous.
Football is f*cked

As these two articles seem to show, sigurdssons main asset these days is his delivery from set pieces. Take that away and he's pretty average. Some parallels with Whitts there probably.
For £50 million you want more than just someone to take the free kicks.
Barkley isn't worth £50 million either, but I'd probably have him over sigurdsson.

With Barkley you get the England tax on top.
Swansea have said they haven't rejected a bid and he is staying. So the story about leciester's bid looks wrong.
All those tens of millions they're racking in and their only good signings so far are a loan for Tammy Abraham and 10m for a spanish midfielder.
Abraham is a great buy though.
