My supermarket has egg noodles in the salad isle. It doesn't make them a vegetable.

I'm sorry, but this is a thread about crisps. I have nothing against corn based snacks (or rice based snacks, for that matter). In fact I'd go for a pack of monster munch in preference to almost any actual crisp. But they play no part in a valid debate about the best crisps on the market today. I am on the fence about quavers because they are potato based, albeit extruded rather than chipped. And Chipsticks are a bizarre hybrid affair of potato and maize so might be included, but of course it is highly unlikely that anybody would consider a chipstick to be a first rate "crisp". (Although I agree with your choice of nik nak. Easily the best one).

I don't like crisps, but do you remember those Smiths ones in the stripey paper bags with a blue wax paper twist of salt included ?
They were all the rage when we were relegated in about 1964 and I used to keep the little bags of salt to chuck on the coal fire and create coloured flames.

Of course, there was no Netflix or internet porn in those days, but it was quite a popular diversion during the long winter evenings.

If you doubt that the world has degenerated since then, just try and interest the kids of today in stuff like that and they'll look at you as if you're stupid and demand some kind of tiny record player thing with earphones or start taking drugs.

Way too hard for a crisp. More suitable uses would be structural ballast or, if you've got one with a pointed edge, skinning weasels.

I miss Smiths Scampy Flavoured Fries, Walkers Fish & Chips (no longer made) and Smiths Cheese Flavoured Moments (also no longer made).
I haven’t had crisps since December, as my diabetic nurse clobbered me, so no more for me!
