Take a look at the top 8 places to visit in Barry.
You have to admit, there's not many places in britain where you can get as diverse as that for attractions.
After you've done your day of cultural enlightenment then you could sit back and have some fine dining in one of the many fine restaurants.

All situated within 5 mins of a train station.
Very fine town to be honest.
And to top it all off ... its a seaside resort too.
Name me one place better than that in Wales!!!

10 yrs is the same as me nige.
Disagree on the nightlife tho mate. Cardiffs overpriced for me.
I didn't know there was a wartime heritage place in Barry. My nan was in an AA gun team at Barry docks so I will pay a visit. Nugent, call the local tourist board and tell them they owe you a quid.

I've never heard of most of those places. I remember when Giulianos was American Graffiti. And before that Joe's cafe.

How are the beach huts getting on ?They've been finished, vandalised and had all the numbers stolen from the doors. But yeah, apart from that they're ok! http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

it used to be packed out in the early 90's aswell, i was working as a carpenter for the council and used to have to go and " maintain " the hut
If we were every bored one afternoon ( any afternoon to be fair ) we would pop down and have a round, used to take our own clubs though, as they were better http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/wink.gif
As kids we used to be over there at 9am waiting for it to open. Good times.
I havent been down Porthkerry for about 15 years, i guess the cafe is still going ?? ?

I think so mate. They have got rid of the bbqs by the beach, and put a few on the long bit of grass.

As someone born in Cardiff and raised in Penarth I feel I have to extol Penarth's virtues.
I like Barry, my Grandad ran the Ship hotel for ten years in the 60s and 70s and the town has improved massively in recent years after decades of decline; but Penarth is on a different level, geologically and metaphorically.

Mind you, Penarth is full of posh, cliquey c@nts and I much prefer living in Canton nowadays
