Hopefully today was the start of Cardiff improving.
The football was better , we didn't get over run in midfield.
Gunnerson was taking off.
The new guys did well enough.

One teensy weensy critisism....Revel may not be the answer up front.

What did everyone else see?

an improvement yes but still no where near good enough, we didn't start playing on the deck until 2-0!

Ball retention is shocking, closing down is shocking, movement is non existent, revel lacks quality

I wasnt expecting much today and wasn't disappointed !

The rate at which we have gone backwards is frightening and we are definately prime candidates to be sucked into a relegation battle.

I thought it was poor.

Hardly strung 5 passes together in their half, if playing with one up top then the attacking midfielders need to have the legs to get beyond and ours were rarely within 15 yards of him, not sure what either wide men offer or where any creativity is within this side.

One of the worst City sides in years. Can't see where the next win will come from.

edit: 15 yards not 105.

I thought we started well enough, extra man in midfield made a big difference and did try to play more football than we have recently.

Both new signings played well, great to see O'Keefe offering himself to the back four as an outlet, avoided a lot of occasions where we'd see the ball lumped forward.

Love Revell's work rate, great to see, that said, doesn't look like he'll threaten the goal too many times.

Next couple of weeks acid test for Slade, window closes, he's got a few bodies in and we'll see Mason, Manga and Pilkington come back in to the side - on today I'd pick,

Marshall

Peltier
Manga
Morrison
Malone

Harris
O'Keefe
Adeyemi
Mason (ahead of OK and Adeyemi)
Pilkington

Jones

Derby reminded me of City two seasons ago, not the most exciting of sides but workmanlike and work as a solid unit.City on the other hand are a mess and this is relegation form, both wide players are simply not good enough and rarely get behind the opposition defence, the play offs are now out of our reach and we are starting to look over our shoulders, a relegation battle beckons.

I thought we started well enough, extra man in midfield made a big difference and did try to play more football than we have recently. There honestly was very little football on offer. Derby were very ordinary today and didn't look like a team sitting top of the league. The times they showed some quality they scored.

Perhaps Jim's point about Gunnar being subbed is the only positive to take from today. Derby have an absolutely abysmal record here. 4-1, 4-1, 4-0 & 6-1 in recent games. They beat us today and didn't get out of 1st gear.

I admire your optimism. I certainly wasn't expecting anything from this game. Had a few quid on Derby in fact. My contention is the fact that what I saw today was no where near the standard required for a league like the Chapionship.

Where is our next win coming from? There are 18 games remaining and we are only 7 points above 22nd place.

Hopefully today was the start of Cardiff improving.I saw an average away team stroll to a victory without ever looking like not winning. I saw a home team never put the opposition under pressure, never have control of the game and make the keeper only have to make 2 saves of note. I saw a home team look like what they are: a team of low championship/league 1 players with no structure, leadership, pace, drive, tactics, quality or skill. In concision one team looking safe bets for top 6 without pulling up any trees and another being drawn into a relegation scrap.

I admire your optimism. I certainly wasn't expecting anything from this game. Had a few quid on Derby in fact. My contention is the fact that what I saw today was no where near the standard required for a league like the Chapionship. We were no better or worse than Derby. When Derby raised the bar they scored. If Revel had hit the back off the net with the whole goal to aim for instead of straight at the keeper it would have been a different story . Derby were desperate at times.

I thought Whitts, O'Keefe, Peltier and Connolly all had good games and Kenwynne was his usual goal threat. We desperately need a striker and another midfielder and then playing easier teams we should start doing OK.

On the flip side, a team who had the ref against them in the first half and were undeservedly out of the game couldn't come up with anything in the second half except the usual punts to Kenwynne? I thought we would have really got stuck into them.

Hopefully today was the start of Cardiff improving. My main criticism in recent weeks has been about the awful hoofball we've been playing, but I agree with you, we did try and play a bit today and so at least I'm happier about that - there was still plenty wrong with the side though, Derby strolled to their win really by raising their game a bit when needed.

It says it all when a 0-2 home defeat is viewed as an improvement http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif Shows just how rubbish we've been. We may still be crap, but at least it feels more like our crap than someone else's.

Hopefully today was the start of Cardiff improving.
The football was better , we didn't get over run in midfield.Totally agree with Blueblade. I thought Whitts and Noone were by far the worst players out there. Whitts is pathetic every week!

It was better but of course nowhere near good enough. The effort was there which was pleasing. We put a few passes together (unexpected) and won some tackles (an improvement). Overall it was like seeing a Sunday League team trying their best against professionals.

Overall it was like seeing a Sunday League team trying their best against professionals. Like a Sunday league team that had gone home after the pub shut the night before instead of going into town, getting plastered, getting into a fight with a bouncer, puking up in the taxi on the way home and waking up in next doors front garden, which is what we've been like for the last few months.

For the first 30 minutes we looked pretty decent. For once we packed the midfield and didn't get over-run. But it didn't take them long to suss us out. We may have had numbers in midfield, but let's be honest, they just aren't good enough.
People near me used to moan about cowie, but he would shine in our current midfield.
Second half, with one or two exceptions, we ran out of ideas, hope, energy, pride and commitment.

Derby won a cantor, they didn't need to nor did they get out of 2nd gear. Revell was piss poor, the other new players looked as mediocre as much they come. Result we head towards the relegation places at a rate of knots.

absolutely no killer pass or real forward threat whatsoever

Gunnerson was taking off.Feel a bit for Gunnar who is struggling too, but not surprising when so many around him are out of form and can't win a tackle

Predictable.Peltier had a good game. Running and purpose, not just the running that you seem to favour.

Revell had a decent game. Won lots of ball , created chances and caused problems for them. Pity no one was close enough or quick enough to take advantage.Only decent ball in was for Jones to have a free header from 6 yards which he aimed straight at their keeper. a yard either side and we were back in it.

Predictable.Revell created nothing had one shot on goal which was miss hit and straight to the keeper. He can't hold the ball up and bring players into the game, has no pace, no presence and no goal scoring ability, but yep runs a lot. Peltier, was at fault for the second goal, lost his marker and didn't even put a challenge in, but saying that he is no worse than what we had. Noone was shite and has been all season, agree with you there. As for being predictable, maybe but so was the result and the fact that Derby won at such a cantor playing poorly should be a worry to all. make no mistake about if the last 9 games are a barometer for the rest of the season, we will be relegated.

It says it all when a 0-2 home defeat is viewed as an improvement http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gifBut Slade must start with Kenwynne who is by far our best striker - even if his work rate is not as high as that of Revell. Kenwynne has scored 6 goals in the past 8 games so it is madness not to start with him so that he get's more chances to score. Based on the stats he is more likely to score than anyone else - so I am baffled by Slade's reasoning.

It's good to be positive but I think that any team can decide to pass the ball and generally it is nicer to watch but that doesn't necessarily mean the team will be more effective. They can pass the ball neatly but they also need a purpose in their play and that comes from the manager. Yesterday, the ball was passed about but there was ZERO threat. We were easily beaten at home. If that is the pace, we are way, way off.

Predictable. Also, a defence that has been almost completely remodeled by Slade conceded two goals at home.

Give Slade a few weeks with his own signings. I dont believe the more senior players are buying into him and they should be dropped for players who will.
I still feel a little positive, well, more positive than I have for weeks (not hard)
If Slade can magic up a couple of wins and get some confidence going, this side could perhaps be handy.
