View Full Version : I was wrong . forcing Tan to give up on the club has proved successful

I honestly thought the fans groups should play a long game and try to persuade Tan to change shirt colours over time or look for a compromise of red and blue.

However I fully accept I was wrong and the fans who threatened to organise boycotts and pressurise both current and future sponsors to bail out of football completely to force Tan to give up on the club and withdraw his financial support were right. Red or dead or blue and screwed?

well tonight I realised that its great in blue , no worrying about the race to the Premiership and £100 million a year or trying to win the next generation of football supporters , we have a third of our crowd staying away so plenty of space and no queues for the bars or toilets. Only need a bucket collection to pay for the next new signing and we are back in 1990s . Steve Borley having to rescue the club again -you know its only a matter of when.

yep its great in blue!

The fall from grace since we turned to blue has been incredible. It's only been a month or so but it seems like longer. How could we go from being 15 points clear at the top of the league in red at Christmas to this so quickly?

Just changing a shirt colour has made such a difference.

Who knows we could even get out of this division ?.. thanks to the return to blue brigade Cardiff City are the club everyone wants to be part of , 25,000 season tickets sold already, Premiership players signing pre- contracts , its a blue dream for sure!!

Unlucky, Sid. You and the rest of the re-brand apologists endorsed the destruction of your club's identity and put your faith in a clueless Malaysian megalomaniac simply because he has plenty of cash. You now have the club you so richly deserve.

If only Tan had given up. Tan is pulling the strings, selecting players and tactics. Russ and the group are doing exactly as they are instructed.
He hasn't run the club very well.
He isn't a very good football manager.

"Cardiff City is a business not co-operative - all this bollocks about soul - 26,000 people turn up to watch football - 15 years ago there were 3,000 odd - the results were poor and customers took their leisure spending elsewhere - its not more complicated than that." (sidhooper7, 06/05/2013)

Seems like the results are currently poor and plenty of customers are taking their leisure spending elsewhere. It's no more complicated than that.

So is Sid's. He's spent the last two and half years criticising and abusing anyone who dared to question the re-brand or the lunatic who implemented it. Like most of the apologists, collaborators and quislings, I guess he's feeling a little bit foolish now that the Emperor's 'vision' has turned to shit.Made in Malaysia failed in Cardiff.

There's a number of posters on Walesonlnie who also seem to believe this fantasy that the football has turned to sh*t because we're back in blue and it is Tan's revenge.

Slade was appointed back in September, a full 4 months before the return to blue. Not one fan thought it was a good appointment at the time and I'm sure most realised this was the end of Tan's spending and the start of cutbacks

Yet there's muppets on there saying - see you've got the football you deserve for wanting blue back. I despair at some people, I really do

Don't panic Sid I've heard (LeAdER) on the grape vine (but keep it quiet) that Tan has got RUPERT MURDOCH!! interested in buying us out and he's going to borrow quazillions against the club to get us into the 'promised land'. As a proud and honourable Aussie we are of course having to change the home colour to yellow this time but I, like you, don't care cos I get to see great players like Wayne Rooney and Kevin Nolan once a year and we get the last game slot on Match of the Day where Alan Shearer gets to say really interesting stuff about us.

Its what I've always dreamed of.

So many intelligent replies ...........and not one can answer the simple question of where the "thousands of fans who will return when we change to blue" were against Fulham . What was it 200 more turned up compared to the home league game before??

Oh and remind me - when is the "biggest party this city has ever seen" (c) Cardiff City Fans Trust due to start??
Strangely no one can answer that ??

Perhaps when the brains trust mob have finished wiping the egg off collective faces you might have an answer - come on keep the rest of us amused and do the best you can?

Me too! http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif Quite a few seem to be writing off the Championship-winning season as an average season or worse. Admittedly the off field stuff took the gloss off it but it's still a very good achievement to win a tough division. Oh and beating Wolves, Leeds (yet again) and the wurzels was pretty good to me.

As for the prem, from memory we had one great (fluke) performance against Citeh, followed by months of dross.Undoubtedly (myself included). However, I did enjoy the wins mentioned above. It was after the Charlton away debacle that Mackay suddenly realised that he had to tighten up the team as his mandate was probably promotion or the boot. We ground our way to that title but I didn't renew that summer because I had a feeling what the Premiershit experience would be like.

Well done Bob - distancing yourself from the Trust Board member who boasted on tv that the return to blue would bring "the biggest party this city has ever seen" it was deluded drivel so good for you for pretending to know nothing about it and dismissing it for what we all knew it was.
Reassuring to know that thousands who paid to see Watford weren,t actually there Bob as you say- season ticket holders staying away because of the red of course. As expected these disillusioned thousands returned when the blue returned just as the Trust predicted. Sounds a good theory Bob so yes I will concede that point....... but it means that only 200 non season ticket holders attended the great Fulham return to blue event ??
So all the bollocks about how many thousands would race back to see the City in blue and its just 200 more turned up and paid to go in?
And the 5,000 or so that were boycotting the Watford game because of the red are by your reckoning now boycotting again because they got what they wanted but then decided they wanted to see red again or that they think the club is totally screwed and in freefall since the blue mob forced Tan to pull the plug?

As I am not as bright as the intellectual giants in the earlier posts perhaps the Trust and co can help with this question?..

2014-15 season and 18,000 bought season tickets to see a Cardiff City in red compete in the Championship

If all the blue mob are right and fans will come flooding back now we are in blue then in 2015-16 how many season tickets will be sold to watch Cardiff City in blue competing in the Championship?

Will the number of season tickets sold exceed the number of excuses given for a huge drop in sales?

As I am not as bright as the intellectual giants in the earlier posts perhaps the Trust and co can help with this question?..the only way fans of any club return is with a modicum of success but they are not hardcore fans, tans tenure as owner, will always be the divisive element among the fanbase after the rebrand fiasco. until a new owner, team, and manager are found, things wont change anytime soon. going back to blue is no good if the same lunatic is in charge of the asylum, a clean sweep will be needed .

Sid seems to be forgetting that for the last few seasons we have had artificially high season ticket numbers due to the price freeze.
A number of people walked away, I suspect that more would've joined them had our season in the sun not been just around the corner.

It's great that we're back in our proper colours, But the premier league glory hunters won't be back until we're back in the prem, if ever. Walk up fans aren't walking up at the moment because we are playing shot, as we were when we were still red.

Well done Bob - distancing yourself from the Trust Board member who boasted on tv that the return to blue would bring "the biggest party this city has ever seen" it was deluded drivel so good for you for pretending to know nothing about it and dismissing it for what we all knew it was.Either a drink or drugs problem here. Lets leave Sid sobbing in his free red scarf. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif

A jock talking about someone else having a drink problem??
Anyway - mines a bitter if you're buying - but not quite as bitter as The Lone Gunman - he reckons its all YOUR fault we are in freefall. You fans have got the club you deserve............strange how he agrees with me - thats exactly what I am saying!!

The fans poll in the Echo just published makes it clear - everyone thinks the club is going backwards proving the return to blue has been a disaster for Cardiff City - no matter the Fans Trust and their fellow travellers are all in hiding!!

Ah I see - you are back from the pub - OK heres the bit you missed at the start of the thread:-
"I honestly thought the fans groups should play a long game and try to persuade Tan to change shirt colours over time or look for a compromise of red and blue."

The "lets force Tan to implement "red or dead" for me was always a doomed and clueless strategy - the fans groups had no plan - just deluded drivel about thousands of fans coming back to the club - all looking like bullshit foolishness just weeks later.
But carry on with the excuses and self justification - as if that will stop the current freefall!

A jock talking about someone else having a drink problem??2. If Vincent Tan has been forced into a red or dead policy, why did he allow Russell Slade to spend around £1 million on new players last month?
