There's normally a few threads every year about what to do if you get a fine notice when you park here on match day. Advice varies from "ignore and they will go away" to "pay early to avoid fine escalation or court".

Well, it looks like the Court of Appeal are going to pronounce and set a precedent..... Watch this space....

If it goes the customer way you can bet your bottom dollar the rich ( always paying due tax) land owners will simply raise hourly parking rates or reduce the free stay from two hours to one.

I've lost count on the amount of times I've said ignore it. Bunch of sissies get scared over a little warning letter and pointlessly waste their money.

If it goes the customer way you can bet your bottom dollar the rich ( always paying due tax) land owners will simply raise hourly parking rates or reduce the free stay from two hours to one. That won't work. They want you in their store spending money. They want you to take your time, wait in queues at the delicatessen counters, try those clothes on and have a meal in their 'restaurants'. If people aren't staying longer, they are going to spend more of their money. Stores know that if they have a shorter parking time limit than their competitors, they will lose trade to them.
