Following another city great Rhys Weston who fled to Port Vale , which is I think is a club not named after a distinct geographical location , it actually in a town called Burlsem which is a suburb of Stoke On Trent I always wondered how the team got the name 'Port Vale', you haven't helped

Sorry, apparently the name Port Vale existed on maps predating the formation of the club from 1879, itm is a reference to a valley of ports on the Trent and Mersey Canal which I suspect fed int the potteries industries
