A surprisingly quiet weekend on the pitch for our loan players considering the kerfuffle off it. Matt Connolly joined Watford on an emergency loan only to be left out of their squad to play Ipswich. They don't play again till Friday week so it's an interesting use of the word emergency. Adam Le Fondre played 68 minutes of Bolton's draw at Wigan while Joe Lewis helped Blackpool to a 1-1 draw with Leeds. Hundreds of Blackpool fans boycotted the game in protest at their owners and went to watch AFC Blackpool instead, boosting their crowd to 503 compared to the season's average of 35.
Declan John has already seen as much league action with Barnsley as with us this season, it seems to be a good loan deal for all concerned. Barnsley matched Preston in a 1-1 draw at the start of a tough run of games for them. They play Sheffield United in a fortnight, could be a good battle between Declan and John Brayford if they're on the same flank. No pitch time for Tommy O'Sullivan, Danny Johnson or David Tutonda but Deji Oshilaja stopped League 2's top scorer, Matt Tubbs, from adding to his tally as AFC Wimbledon beat Portsmouth 1-0 to move to six points from the play-off positions.
KTC's St Etienne won 2-0 but no game for Etien Velikonja's Lierse and no pitch time for Javi Guerra who was back on the bench for Malaga after injury. Filip Kiss played at right back for Ross County as they won 2-1. I assume we won't see him play for City again but the ability to fill in at full-back might help him to get back in favour here next season, especially if Watford have any more emergencies.
Of our ex-players, Neil Harris messed up my son's accumulator by managing Millwall to a 2-2 draw at Brentford, Cameron Jerome scored with a brilliant finish against Forest while Michael Chopra came on after 65 minutes for Alloa against Raith and nearly got an equaliser in a 2-1 defeat.
