Random question as I can't find a definitive answer in Virgins guidelines. In the USA at the moment. I've bought a bottle of car shampoo (usually very expensive back home, 1/4 of the price here) but just wondering if I'll have any issues with it in checked in luggage on the way home?

Also, thinking about stocking up on some tins of Cinnabon dough (I've become addicted). They're the sort of tins that pop open when you peel the label off. Anyone think these will explode under the change of air pressure in the luggage hold on the plane?

Should have no problems in check in luggage as long as you have if fitted the universal lock, you know the combo with a hole in the bottom for a customs key to open. As for the dough, I think they would open your case and dispose of it, you may not get your case as they could take it away and do a controlled explosion on it, dough would look to much like semtex http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif

Sorry guys, forgot to reply as I've not had much chance to check online! Anyway, flying home Tuesday. So we think the car shampoo will be fine but th tons of dough maybe not?

I've also bought 3 cans of aerosol spray paint that isn't easily available in the UK (plastidip for cars for anyone interested). Anyway, will these be a problem? Can always return them if so!

I wouldn't recommend taking them. I doubt that he'll get away with aerosols either. The shampoo should be okay though.

I wonder how he got onHowever I did get away with the 1 gallon of car shampoo, polish and tin of solid wax. Cost about £17 for 3 items that back here would cost about £50!

Top Tip. When going through customs, if they ask if you have anything to declare, don't say "Aerosols"

I always lie when I go through check in. "Did you pack this yourself sir?" "Yes". Blatant lie, because my Mrs always does the packing. I wonder what would happen if I said that?

I can never understand how they won't allow you on board with tweezers lest you attack a member of staff in mid-flight. However, they will let you have a glass bottle of vodka that you can smash and hold to someone's throat.

Some jobsworths are happy to have produced this nonsensical rule no doubt.

In the end I didn't risk bringing the spray cans of Plasti Dip home as a woman at Virgin told me she thinks it would be removed as it's paint. Looking back though I think I probably could have got away with it because aerosols are allowed and nowhere on the tins of Plasti-Dip did it say paint.I thought it could do with some livening up http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/Dsmile.gif

I once came through the baggage check with a quite a large knife that for reason didn't show up on the scan and in transit through Amsterdam on the way back to Cardiff the whole lights and bells things went off
