Anyone been to Jersey before (St Helier)? Thinking of going there for a 2 or 3 day break and was wondering is it any good.

Yes, I was there for a fortnight a couple of years ago. Well worth a visit. PM Alwaysaway. He lives there.

I was born in St Helier. Absolutely beautiful place, bit of culture - castles/war tunnels, lovely beaches. It's not cheap for flights/hotels and eating/drinking is not cheap when you get there.

Would recommend it for a 2/3 day trip though.

I worked on one of the Pontins holiday camps out there at the end of the 90s and fell in love with the place.

Went back for a trip down memory lane a couple of years ago and had a great time, Missus loved it as well.

Did the touristy bits - Gerarld Durrell Zoo, the German hospital etc and they are all worthwhile, but the real beauty is in the slow pace of life out there.

Want to go back as I type - probably is my favourite place on earth.

I always joke (though I'm serious!) that if I won a few million on the lottery I'd be on the first plane to Jersey, walk out of the airport, into the nearby Aston Martin dealership and tell them to get me a DB9 ready by the time I'd finished my round of golf over the road. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Nice place, but stay outside St.Hellier would be my advice. Just have a day there, it's way too busy and full of piss heads.
