Those that do not exhibit a "positive" outlook must undergo "reprogramming"

You must comply, resistance is futile...

The long term unemployed I know do have psychophysical problems and do need help. If people are not fit for work then they need help to become fit for work, they can still live their lives as normal outside work. The words reprogramming, psycho-policy interventions, change their personalities are scary. But some do need to change their outlook, their attitudes to life wont help them in a job, and unless they can survive in a commune they are going to have to work at some point and plenty need help to get into work.

Leave them rot on benefits, living a basic life likely to suffer from depression or worse. Or help them back into work.

On another level when would you see intervention as okay?

Take this article for example, is it okay to intervene and help a young mother bring up her baby? IN some ways there is help but it tails off over time. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/children/9637682/What s-the-difference-between-these-two-brains.html (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/children/9637682/Whats-the-difference-between-these-two-brains.html)

If you aren't fully supportive then you 'want to leave them rotting on benefits'. It is just childish really.

Or help them back into work.People tend to be happier when they are making life for themselves, so when I say I dont want them rotting on benefits its true, I have had too many experiences of depression with loved ones over the few years and if we can do something to reduce the chances then we should be. Its proven that those on benefits are more likely to suffer from depression, so lets be proactive and tackle the cause, not reactive, as its too late then. Lets help these people make more of their lives, not leave them alone.

I'm rarely agreed with so obviously not, What I mean is, no matter how much I try to explain why it bugs me it's clear to see from what you have written that being a free human being means something different to you than it does me.

Do you post thing on here just to be agreed with? For me a free person should not free at expense of others. If they want to be free go live in a commune where you are not asking others to pay for your upkeep. If you want to live a life taking other peoples money then you should have to play by their rules.
