Tried some camel, not bad but not great either. Slightly gamey and similar to goat to me. Could have had Alpaca , Llama ,Zebra , Springbok Crocodile or Bison. My missus tried Bison which she said tasted like concentrated Beef.
Lovely restaurant with stunning views down the lower Rhymney Valley to Machen.
They do of course serve more normal dishes and our friends enjoyed a nice steak and some calves liver.
Worth a try.

Reading what's on the menu, her old man must have some farm or should the restaurant be called The Zookeeper's Daughter http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif

I was in a restaurant in Cathays a couple of years ago and the girl on the table next to me ordered pheasant, when it came she started eating it and her friend asked her what it tasted like, she replied "really nice, a bit gamey though" http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Go veggie Mick. You know you want to.Because many vegetarians may become so in later life, and that decision is rarely based on having gone off the taste or texture plus most veggies will eat a wide range of veg and veg only dishes alongside the meat imitation products and the imitation products are very high in protein and whilst you can get that from proteinous foods such as beans and pulses etc., that can get a tad boring.. Why on Earth that amuses you is a mystery.? http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/shrug.gif

Nothing wrong with good fresh veg. I sort of get what he means, if you don't like the thought of eating animals why would you want to make veggie products to look just like meat? I think they should just make them all triangle to avoid any confusion, why are Quorn meat free chicken nuggets called that? They are not chicken. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif

Lovely restaurant with stunning views down the lower Rhymney Valley to Machen. There is a reason why crocodile, llama and zebra isn't universally eaten, like cow, chicken, pig, sheep etc. It's because it tastes mediocre at best.

Lovely restaurant with stunning views down the lower Rhymney Valley to Machen. Croc / alligator is a lovely meat. Must have been overcooked to be dry. I bbq'd some croc a few years ago and cooked it like scallops , hot and quick.
