Very Naive I'm sure but I had never knowingly heard Jackson Browne play and sing until someone posted a link on here the other day, I then found myself you tubing him lapping up everything he had to offer. Music is enjoyed on an individual basis, what 'floats my boat' will not be everyones cup of tea.

My offering is this:

We hear just a tiny portion of the music that is produced by societies worldwide.

We listen to the music of the few who have been lucky enough to have attained recognition nationally and/or internationally. There are lots more songs out there that are as good - if not better - than those that enter our earspace..

The Native American Navajos encourage everyone to have their own songs and those who don't have any songs are pitied...

I don't believe there are any 'bad' songs; only songs that are inappropriate for whatever reason. As a songwriter you must match the song to the audience - then everyone's happy... http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/rolleyes.gif

Heard this band for the first time recently Suicide (1st track) was very dramatic - suited my mood, but dream baby dream wasn't for me tonight - a little too repetitive and at the same level throughout - not enough drama, for a drama queen.... http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/rolleyes.gif

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn7SBQ6X5HU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn7SBQ6X5HU)Suicide's albums of the late 1970s and early 1980s are regarded as some of the most influential recordings of their time and helped shape the direction of indie rock, industrial music and dance music. Among others, Steve Albini (Shellac, Rapeman, Big Black), Panthére, Gang Gang Dance, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Sisters of Mercy, She Wants Revenge, Henry Rollins, Joy Division/New Order, Soft Cell, Nick Cave, D.A.F., Erasure, the music of Giant Haystacks, The KLF, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, OMD, Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears, Cassandra Complex, Mudhoney, Nitzer Ebb, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Radiohead, Kap Bambino, Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, Angel Corpus Christi (covers of Dream Baby Dream and Cheree with Alan Vega guest vocals), Michael Gira, MGMT, Sky Ferreira, Sonic Boom, Loop, The Fleshtones (both of whom have recorded cover versions of "Rocket USA"), Ric Ocasek of The Cars, Mi Ami, Depeche Mode, Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, R.E.M., Devo, Ultravox, Massive Attack, Air, Autechre, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin and The Kills, Bono Vox and Bruce Springsteen have all listed Suicide as an influence. Bruce Springsteen was also influenced by the band, as evident by the song "State Trooper" from his album Nebraska. Furthermore, Springsteen also used a solo keyboard version of "Dream Baby Dream" to close the concerts on his 2005 Devils & Dust Tour, and released a studio version of his cover on his 2014 album High Hopes.

The greatest music I had never heard was Jimi playing live as over half of his concerts would be songs never previously released and extraordinary improvisations.

Other personal favourites would be when separately John Hammond junior. Stephen Stills and Country Joe Mcdonald (of Country Joe and the Fish) played me unreleased new and old songs along with different versions of familiar songs either at rehearsals or at our hotel.
