OT. PROXY SERVER REVERTING?

Does anyone have a problem in internet options where the lan settings keep reverting to "Use a proxy server" from the "Automatically detect settings" and then a page will not open until I change it back happens loads of times, cannot find solution anywhere, many thanks if anyone has an answer http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif

Do you actually use a proxy server ever, or is the box just getting ticked?

One likely cause is some kind of (or the remains of ) Malware or BHO (Browser Helper Object ) that has got on to your PC and wants to try to direct your Net traffic for whatever reason - usually something unsolicited or undesirable.


I'd try downloading Malwarebytes free edition and running that, and allowing it to clean any malware it might find.

Have you done any of the following recently:
installed windows 8
amended the time or date on you PC
changed any settings on you router
???
