Excellent programme with John Humphreys tonight which I'm sure will be on catch up later. Details the two great raids on South Wales on 2nd January 1941 in Cardiff and the three day blitz on Swansea a month later.

Swansea for it really bad

It reminds me of Plymouth with much post war architecture and planning

Saw a programme on Goering last night , after Germany lost the battle of the air , he went off his head on heroin and started making his own uniforms , retired to a castle in the forest and collected art

Mad

**** knew what was going on though at the death camps but never showed any remorse ,even at the Nuremberg trials in 1946

Any spare bombs they had left, they'd just drop anywhere. My dad told me one wiped out the pub at the end of his street in Pontypool

My dad once told me of a German bomber being chased by fighters near Cwm - it dropped its load to shed weight, seconds away from obliterating the place, which almost certainly wasn't the intended target.Probably after Ebbw Vale steelworks.

Don't know if it's still visible but there was a bomb crater in the (ironically named) Peace Park in Glenboi (Mountain Ash). It was near the level crossing gate at the Abercwmboi end of the park. This was caused by a German plane off loading a bomb on its way back from the Swansea air raid. John Humphries spoke of the complete randomness where some of the bombs fell - my grandparents house was just about 200 yards west from the crater. A split second earlier and there could have been a totally different outcome!
