Personally speaking I've moved 110 miles from Cardiff, and I have weekend commitments.
I have not wanted to go for several years, and didn't.
Now.. I miss it. I'll go when I can.

Sturminster Newton cheese festival, will be back for the Charlton game so should be at least two more at that one, also doing Brighton away and overnight stay in Sussex. Three games in a month is too pricey, well done Sladey and the boys though.

I was there - first half - Huddersfield could have been a couple up , we didnt do much.

Second half - much better , again they could have scored a couple - so could we have.

They didnt look a bottom 3 side - and we didnt look like a top 3 side either.

It is disappointing to see so many empty seats but it's hardly surprising after last seasons dismal performances. I think our core support at this level is probably about 16-18,000 but the effects of the rebrand and last seasons dross has driven some of those away. If we keep our current form up they will return soon enough.

I can understand why many have not returned after the dross that was served up last season.
If it weren't for my 10 year old son, then I probably would have been one of those that didn't renew for this season.
That said however, it's a shame that so many are missing out on watching what has so far, been some very good & enjoyable performances. Last season I couldn't remember a half time/full time that the team weren't booed off the pitch. This season has been very different.

The only reason you should be staying away is so you don't have to endure the horror show that is the stadium announcer!!! My god, it's bad. The announcer finally gave up announcing names & reverted to just calling out the numbers. Even then he said that #17 had come in when it was #11 !!!

Main reason for poor attendance is the dire football served up

Didn't go today because i was invited to play golf with some old mates, something I would never have done in previous years, but **** the club couldn't give a shit if your all suffering from a bad atmosphere. the club should have thought about that before Tan said he didn't care about the 20% turns out they want us back now.

I've been a couple of times this season and enjoyed it on both occasions but after all the shenanigans of the last few years I want to see Cardiff win again but have barely a fraction of the passion that I once had for the club. These days my eyes are wide open to the fact that I'm just a customer. We all are, nothing more, nothing less. If I fancy going to a match I will, if I don't I won't.

I didn't get down today - was out in the Pennines walking before kick off, then glued to CC Player, Jeff Stelling and the BBC online match summary.

I gave up my season ticket 3 years ago, and as it costs the best part of £100 a go to get to a home game (fuel and other costs) I pick and choose now.

I did get to Fulham (h), Blackburn (a) and Forest (a) and watched QPR and Wolves on Sky.

I can't work out from this thread if I'm a plastic sell-out or a part-time fan with no commitment?

I've been a couple of times this season and enjoyed it on both occasions but after all the shenanigans of the last few years I want to see Cardiff win again but have barely a fraction of the passion that I once had for the club. These days my eyes are wide open to the fact that I'm just a customer. We all are, nothing more, nothing less. If I fancy going to a match I will, if I don't I won't. Pretty much exactly what I would have written, just swap wolves for Fulham.

You are basically asking a question of human nature rather than a question of City fans. Success brings big crowds, failure, or the debacle like "the rebrand" result in crowds getting smaller. You must know this, or at least you should know this.

Rebrand. I couldn't stomach sitting or standing next to all the sell outs.
So you waved the white flag. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/wave.gif
Sort of. I protested. I boycotted. The bulk of people who pretend to support Cardiff city sold the club down the river for a season in the premiership.
We eventually won but it's too late for a lot of proper Cardiff. Happy to leave what's left of the original club to the sell outs. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif
Be honest you were never a real fan. You were someone just looking for an excuse to stop attending and Tan was your escape route.
Nah I stopped attending because the clubs colours were integral to the identity of the club. If you accept that kind of change then essentially you are happy enough with a franchise system. Those who continued going chose top level football over the club they supported. Don't worry you aren't alone. Enough people were pissed off to never return. Now what used to be Cardiff city is experiencing what happens when you decide to tell your proper fans they are no longer needed. You can hide it in the prem. not so easy in the championship. You reap what you sow
Bollux i`ve followed this club through thick and thin the thinnest being in red in the greedy league. And i will continue to support it till I die. owners, players, managers ,club colours come and go real supporters are always around.
Club colours come and go? Do me a favour. What about club names? Club location? What you follow is football not Cardiff city. Omega is spot on. I know hundreds of long standing fans who walked and haven't returned, not so much due to the rebrand being mooted but the fact city fans allowed it to happen. I had a ST at the city from 1982 to the rebrand. I couldn't return and breath the same air as those people who sold my club out. I was told I wouldn't be missed, looking at that 13k crowd it looks like I am

Attending matches is a personal choice for that individual and other peoples decisions have got bog all to do with me. I still go and have a season ticket.

Something that I do find curious mind (as alluded to by someone else on this thread) is how well known regular posters on here are quite happy to talk out loud in a semi boastful way about why they didn't go today (again their business) and in some cases give it large about how they have turned their back on the club completely.

Why bother spending so much time on a cardiff city football website if you couldn't give a monkeys if the club burnt down tomorrow? If I didn't have an interest or passion for the club anymore I wouldn't be on here week in week out I know that.

I've never said I stopped attending Cardiff City matches because you and others still went and I've never claimed that I was in any way forced into my decision, so why use me as an 'example'? Because a significant part of your decision to stop going was your (and I will no doubt get the wording wrong here) exasperation with the fan base to not fight the rebrand like you did. I am very sure you've stated that (or words to that effect) on here on a few occasions.

Where were the fans who weren't there today?
Frankly I couldn't give a shit where they were, it is entirely their busines, and they don't need to justify how they spend their Saturday afternoons. Of course, the CLUB should be concerned, but the truth is, there is no one reason, as we've seen in this thread.
Back in the red days, every week there was a large group of, usually Malaysian, students, all in their new red shirts. Where are THEY now?
Fact is, we've lost some long-term/hard-core fans, but they've arguably been outnumbered by the glory-hunters/hangers-on/freebies/corporates.
In the prem, the hospitality boxes near me were always rammed, sometimes with "celebrities" this season, not so much,

Personally, I'd rather share their air with 13,000 city fans who want to be there, than with 26,000 fans, half of whom don't really give a shit about the club.

Where are THEY now?Good point as an ardent fan over decades it's going to take more than 2nd in this division to get me back, too much damage by owner and fans (particularly the superfans who did all the bleating for the rebrand on t.v).In the end i was starting to get an unhealthy pleasure in seeing us lose.this used to be such a great club to support and i always thought we were like Millwall and West Ham, loud n proud a working class club who were shite but very passionate, the Brighton game blew that out of the water.

I will probably be in a very similar place and position Tuesday night. No excuses needed, having stood on a deserted Bob Bank every game watching us get beaten by football greats such as Weymouth, Bath and Merthyr the thought of ever seeing City play at the highest level seemed light years away, so for me personally the opportunity of it becoming a reality was too great to resist, hats off to the hardcore fans who walked before we went up, that must have hurt like hell (not that Tan cared).Fans don't need excuses for turning their backs on the club as very few clubs in the history of British football has there been a owner who has treated it's loyal support with so little respect and i genuinely believe that if we had held our own in the premier league we would still be playing in red with a full house and blue would be a fading memory.

Did you attend when we were in the Premiership?I went to see us during our Prem season because I'd waited for it my whole life. Other than the Man City and Man Utd games it was a generally miserable experience and I was quite happy to watch us in the Championship again. However, I doubt I'd have renewed if we hadn't gone back to Blue.
