Our oven stopped heating yesterday, just as the missus was going to put the Sunday dinner in......Ouch

So after some googling found out the element needs replacing, as the fan still works. I've removed the element and have some serious concerns:

The element is buckled, perhaps this is normal ??

More of a concern was the sleeve on the earth wire has melted back, whilst the top wire has no plastic sleeve at all and is just copper.(I'm talking about the wires that are attached to the element)

Is this right and how it should look after around 5 years of use ?? Or do I have an electrical problem ??

Thanks

Just ordered one off ebay for £6, I think the bare wire is meant to be like that, its like braided copper.
