A Tesla model s vs a Holden v8
Impressive stuff

I wonder how long before most people are switching to electric vehicles?

As soon as they can make a long enough extension lead.

You can charge them for free at Motorway service stations amongst other places. Doubt that will last as soon as people start switching (which this diesel fiasco may help speed up).

I was talking to a bloke at the motorway services - it was going to take him 45 minutes to charge up, and that would be good for 120 miles on a warm day. Cold days, about 65-70 miles per charge. He charges his car overnight for about £3. That would get me to and from work on a cold day, so about £15 a week instead of the £25 I pay now.

I don't really swap cars - I'm on my third in 18 years and my next new car isn't due for another 5 years but, I reckon, an electric car will be a truly viable option by then.

The Tesla s should get about 270 miles per charge, and the new model x just over 200 miles.

The model x looks incredible too - gull wing doors 7 seat mpv that does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds.

The doors are hinged in 2 places and have sensors on them so they fold out of the way of obstacles when opening to open in a tight space

The only problem with electric cars is that women will think they can plug in the iron whilst driving. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/Dsmile.gif
