Lord knows what he would have thought if he had played here a year ago.

Vince Alm fights back on behalf of City fans.

Interesting to get a view of the 'atmosphere' from pitchside.

Depending on where we sit, we seem to have a different view of fan's support.

I'm in 115 Ninian and have to agree that it was quiet - especially in comparison with the Leeds game, but it was mainly the Leeds tackling that got us going. The drums could be clearly heard - but the Ipswich fans (they brought a bigger contingent than Leeds) were very quiet too.

On the crowd-size, of course the rugby affected the total but they seem to be on the up as we fight to get into the playoffs, play a better quality of football and encourage the kids. We may well be seeing crowds of around 20K if this is maintained.

And that's all I have to say on that...

never been to Portman road and experienced any atmosphere from the home fans, a real library unlike Carrow Road which can be excellent

Varney should stick to driving busses

Amazing how only the noisy fans went to the rugby and all the quiet fans came to the football!

The atmosphere is as poor as its ever been this season, but it has improved marginally the last few games.

I cant understand why Vince is getting all defensive though when he had to arrange a meeting to try and get the atmosphere back this season.

The one thing that puzzles me with our poor atmosphere though is that to quote most "all the glory hunters have gone leaving the true fans". Does this mean the glory hunters make a better atmosphere than the loyal ones? Our stadium doesn't do well acoustically, as from where I usually sit you rarely hear the away fans regardless of how many are there.

I've heard people say switch the Canton and Family around, but we have fans next to the away fans on the Ninian side who barely make a peep anyway.

Do you sit in amongst those fans next to the away fans?

Nope.

The atmosphere at the back of 104 is always pretty good. I sing during every match. People moaning about the atmosphere should try singing; however I do realise that this doesn't apply to Luke Varney who, by the way, is 33 and has only ever scored 77 goals in his professional career.

Rather than being offended and defensive maybe better to take it on board.

Although I'm amazed he's surprised that some fans would prefer watching the rugby. Surely it's not that hard to comprehend?

It's always going to be hard to fill the stadium on a rugby international, concentrate on your goalless streak Vardy and help us reach the playoffs :ayatollah:

Indeed.

I suspect he was just in a huff about losing, and having a rather daft dig ;) .

And it's not like Portman Road has a reputation for being much of a cauldron.

Nope.

So how do you make your assessment that they barely make a peep?

Ask the "stewards" why there's little atmosphere in 116. It's a seated area??? Apparently.

Apart from the odd occasion it's always been a shit atmosphere at ccs. Don't know why this surprises anyone

I have ears.

So you don't really know what volume of noise comes from that area then!!!!i

I'll hold my hands up and be honest here and admit I don't know how many decibels there are. Going on the general atmosphere in the ground I'm doubtful it is any good. Also, I'm told you all sit down and stop making any noise everytime a steward looks in your direction over that side.

Me and Arfur Europe (the person not the continent) went to Portman Road this one time and when they scored they all gently raised from their wooden benches and clapped softly for 15 seconds before sitting back down again, it was one of the oddest things i've ever seen at football, and i've been away with BLUETIT loads.

Cool story bro.

I can vouch for that :hehe: Wasn't that the 'fatal' Matthews OG?!

Here's another memory from one of our legendary away trips :hehe:

Atmosphere will always dissipate with any club chasing the family pound.

Putting the family stand next to away fans will always make for a rubbish atmosphere
