It can't be Mike Ferguson because he was only 19 in 1962, so would have been 9 in the photograph. He cost #1500 from Accrington, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is the case that the Football League received the fee.

I interpreted that it is a 1970s question - Mike Ferguson was a 1970s QPR player and the photo was taken 10 years prior to that in 1962 when he was 19

The 70s question was a bit of a cheat I suppose, I wanted to make it about Ferguson, so I looked for photos of him and then thought I couldn't miss out on the opportunity of including a picture of the "old" Accrington Stanley in action, so it, essentially. became another 60s question.

You're right about the transfer fee Blackburn paid for him, it went to the Football League and was thought to be below his true valuation.

The record he holds which cannot be broken is that he scored Accrington Stanley's last goal in the Football League during their first spell in the competition.

I've put the answers on the blog now, but they're all in this thread anyway.
