A few years ago now there was a channel documentary about 1direction fans and included some really worrying stories, e.g. 15/16 year old girls who had never spoken to a boy because they were waiting for the band-members. Today you have the story that one fan has made some hideous comments regarding one of their children and the recording has been passed onto the legal team, but 1D would have seen the documentary a few years ago and realised that many of their fans were obsessive and delusional yet these same fans were buying hundreds of pound of merchandise each so it didn't seem to matter. The fact that 1D fans are now calling the individual a coward and are spewing all sorts suggests the cycle will begin again.
I also worry that since Charlie Sheen's breakdown it's very popular to try and become the biggest star in the western world by "acting crazy" which does nothing to help those who are facing serious mental health issues.
Celebrity culture just seems so unhealthy in so many ways.
