I understand the Scottish independence fight to a degree but isn't it hypocritical to want out of a union with Westminster but want in with a union with Brussels?

Either way Scotland will have to get subsidised from somewhere.

She was like the proverbial cat with the cream today. The referendum vote has certainly played right into her hands - she can't wait to press the next Scottish Independence referendum button! I hope they've done their sums well - it ain't cheap to join the EU club.

Comparing th UK and the EU is like comparing a brick with a space ship. If you knew anything about either, you wouldn't make the comparison

My mrs said to me " I hope they can afford it ", i pointed out they could well be a country that takes more out than they put in, which does beg the question " what the hell will the EU be thinking, Oh lets replace a net payer with a country that takes more out of the money pot ", surely that will only head one way

I'm all for debating, so long as there's a point worth debating about. This isn't one, so why should I bother.

it was a valid point, I am afraid alot of things come down to money, it helps build and maintain hospitals, schools, infrastructure and services

I guess they might want 50,000 eastern Europeans setting up shop up north  diversity is the key

'Surely this leads only one way'. Gives the impression you think it's the only issue that counts.

I meant with a net payer leaving ( the UK ) and a country that might take more out of the pot joining ( scotland ) , it will only mean the EU need more money from somewhere

If Scotland voted for independence it would be on the assumption they would join the EU. If they join the EU they will have to join the Eurozone. Good luck with that one.

Personally I don't think there will be another referendum in Scotland but if there is, that will make sure the separatists lose.

What would happen regarding border control with Scotland if they did leave and join the Eu. Surely it would make it a lot more costly and difficult dealing with England as well as transport links from the rest of Europe?
