Former Villa striker Garry Thompson, who was the radio match summariser at Deepdale, told BBC WM: "Once you lose the support of the travelling fans and they turn on you, you're in trouble."

Interesting quote.

Aston Villa F.C. has announced that the club has "parted company" with manager Roberto di Matteo "following a run of disappointing results"

60 million spent in the summer and sacked after 10 games. Why give the manager all of that money if you're not intending to keep him through a poor run?

Perhaps 'the world of Football' needs to collectively (re)define "Disappointing" .

Not every team can win every match every time.

But for some teams - often to justify spending huge sums I'd guess - that seems to be the only acceptable scenario.
It's a bit ridiculous.

Doesn't really apply to our own current woes - we have spent next to nothing and been sub-standard.

I must be honest I don't rate Matteo at all how he won the champion league I don't know I've never seen a team battered in 3 games like they was and still win all 3
