...a name from the past. Just been appointed Minnesota United's manager for their inaugural MLS season 2017.

Very decent player and seems to have an OK career managing in the US. Good luck, lad.

Meanwhile for anyone interested the twin cities (Minneapolis / St Paul for the uninformed) now boast at having major teams in all the US sports:

Vikings - Football - doing ok at present, opened the season with 5 straight wins but then lost 4 by just a few points to strong opponents; US Bank Stadium ($1.1billion) opened for the current season and will host Superbowl in 2018'

Twins - baseball - suffered again this summer and need new players - Target Field opened 6 seasons ago - snore

Minnesota Wild - hockey - Excel Energy Centre, opened in 2000 with 18,000 capacity. Big things expected this season.

Timberwolves - basketball - downtown multi-purpose arena, refurbished in 2014 and holds 19,000. Well supported but not successful in recent times. The women's team Minnesota Lynx is hugely successful having won 4 WNBA titles in recent years.

The University of Minnesota also has major teams (Gophers) in all the sports - just take a look at their TCF Bank Stadium which has a capacity of 50,000 and for the most part is full for each game: https://www.google.com/search?q=tcf+bank+stadium+aerial+photo&biw=1366&bih=638&tbm=isch&imgil=pyHlWWZSEkE3aM%253A%253BRdnvEpQA53zYtM%253Bh ttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.chatsports.com%25252Fb ig-ten%25252Fa%25252FMust-See-Aerial-Views-of-Every-Big-Ten-Football-Stadium-18347&source=iu&pf=m&fir=pyHlWWZSEkE3aM%253A%252CRdnvEpQA53zYtM%252C_&usg=__YZe31qOivJ3yac0fhxI_kdz-5mo%3D&ved=0ahUKEwju26T7yM7QAhUnzIMKHcIXC7MQyjcINA&ei=icU9WK7zDaeYjwTCr6yYCw#imgrc=o0BBaSKvYxaikM%3A

So let's hope Minnesota United under Adrian Heath can get things going in their new stadium (21,000) to be opened for their second MLS season in 2018.
