No, because they couldn't it in the same seat. Think of the 'Butterfly Effect' but in respect of time, space and consequences. Even going through a set of traffic lights on amber could change the course of our lives when compared with the scenario where we could have stopped at them.

We had Dolly years ago, so not really a major jump forward. However once you start considering human cloning it becomes a very slippery slope.
