He used to come out with some funny stuff, like the time he beat three welsh players in a tournament over a few days and said "they should have waited for each other, they could have all gone home in the same car" rip.

That’s him and Ray Wilkins out at a similar age from heart attacks. Maybe those of us in their 50’s need to take things a bit steadier these days.

Remember him saying he was doing an exhibition somewhere and some guy in the crowd said to him “ you might be a good darts player, but can you fight?”
Eric replied “No. but I can pay a man who can!!”

Remember him playing in an England vs Scotland match in Scotland and full cans of beer were thrown at him as he played and it didn't faze him at all.

I once was at ascot and he sneaked ahead in the queue for the bogs.
Someone shouted ‘still the crafty cockney Eric?’
Everyone laughed, Eric didn’t
RIP Eric

Couldn't stand him when he was in his pomp. I seem to remember Alan Evans sticking the head on him and busting his nose.

Great character.
It should not be underestimated what Bristow did for darts.

Another legend gone.

I had the very same thought this morning when I heard, that milestone is fast approaching and there have been a few both on here and announced at the city who have died far too young.

I keep myself fit exercise class 3 times week and a jog once a week, gave up smoking 14 years ago, try and eat as healthy as possible, but I guess it comes to us all.

But my dad died of a heart attack aged just 52, and I suffered a stroke at the tender age of 44 :yikes:
Not forgetting being diagnosed with prostate cancer at 60.

We should all be looking after ourselves much more than we do, and from an early age.
