What type of visit you looking for Mike? Cultural, lads or relaxed?

Relaxed. Going with my lad. We got a list of places to see, things to do but if anyone has a decent bar, eating place, good tip that's off the usual list then would appreciate it

Try the Jordaan - very cool part of the city

I know a superb tiny little bar off the main drag but it's only for those who appreciate Trappist beers and the like. If you are a swiller of UK-type lager it would be wasted on you :-)

And find a really authentic Jeneever bar.

This one is great but you can find others

Been a while since I've been but if you like spicy curry type food then try a Rijstaffel - I'd look in Trip Advisor to see where to go now as there are a number to choose from.

If you do only one cultural thing on the trip then go to the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum

The Heineken Brewery is presumbly on your list but there are lots of interesting small bars and places to drink in which I'd prefer to spend time in instead. I'd head to the Jordaan District to try and find something you like the look of.

I guess you're not much into Classical Music but I know you like Music so for something that is very 'left-field' the Concertgebouw is recognised as having one of the best acoustics in the world for a 'shoe-box' Concert Hall design.

I'm not really into Classical Music either but was lucky enough to go to listen to a full orchestra concert there and sit in the front row. If you like 'power' in your music then that beats anything I have either heard live - but you have to be lucky to (a) get a ticket and (b) find some music you'll recognise in the programme.

If there's a match on in the Amsterdam ArenA that is also worth going to and not difficult to get to.

Hope you have a great trip!

we did a canal motorboat for 2 hours. You can motor around the whole canal complex, zipping in and out of the bigger tourist boats etc.etc. Moor up where you want - it was fantastic. However, there were 4 of us so you would probably be better off roping some others in...unless you are happy with just 2

Do the Ajax stadium tour, though it's not as good now they've moved the museum to the town centre.

Try The Water Hole, (nr Leidsegracht), cheap ice cold beers and live metal bands ......right up your street!

Have a good one.

The was a banksy exhibition there in January. That may still be there and I preferred it to the Rjiks museum . The Resistance museum is also worth a visit we were there for 5 hours.

Beautiful city, love just wandering. Anne frank has queues from very early these days I hear as you couldn’t book in advance last time I was there..

The service charge is already included in the bill, so no need to tip unless you think you got exceptional service.

It was still there a few weeks ago, my arty wife loved it.

I preferred the canals museum which shows how the city was planned and built.

Loads of great bars and restaurants around.

Watch out for the bikes and trams they are everywhere and there doesn't seem to be much sense to it.

Oh and also don't go there the same weekend that England are playing there 😂
