View Full Version : FT: GERMANY 0 - 1 MEXICO: Match thread
Both are better going forward than keeping it tight, so hopefully will be a decent game.
One to watch is Hirving Lozano on the wing for Mexico, has a brilliant season for PSV and could bag himself a nice to a bigger league
Edit- shearer has just said pretty much the same thing, so I take it back.

Mexico are murdering the Germans in the counter.
Velas ball carrying has been superb but made a few wrong decisions otherwise it could be 2 or 3

They've had great opportunities but final ball has been very poor
We need to play like this next season.
It seems to me that Mexico are playing in a similar way to City under Warnock, that is win the ball and get it forward as quickly and directly as they can.
Now Mexico are getting the plaudits by the pundits whilst City get slaughtered for our style.
I can’t work that out.

Like us on a good day, against a side who aren't being as naive/arrogant as the Germans are we aren't always as fun to watch

The trend continues second half
Mexico I think could regret some of these poor final balls.

You just know it’s coming
Mexican keeper looks half decent, and that herrera fella
Hernandez is like a boy against men.
Brave effort but Mexico are spent. If you offered them 1-1 now I bet they'd take it.

The styles are not as similar as you think. Mexico, for example, have strung a series of passes together that extends beyond 4.

I'm not so sure, I think they can hold on here.

I hope you're right.

A few of their games on TV. They played twice in a week on Sky and the most passes I counted in a sequence was 5 over the two games.

Decent counter-attack there. Gomez coming on now though. Here comes the kitchen sink :hehe:

Unbelievable
If he released it earlier he would have had 20 yards to run into. He was motoring

Mexico can't have had many in any of their attacks in this game

They’ve been guilty of holding on to the balll far too long in that position all game and it’s a shame because they are lightning on the counter
Cloneball. IMHO.

Difference being Mexico are up against a side much superior than them. Cardiff were playing mid-table sides when I saw them basically just hit the ball anywhere.
Thought that was in Mexicans living dangerously

Put this mexico side against a team getting players behind the ball and they probably look much less dangerous.

First shock of the tournament.
Brilliant.
Still wouldnt suprise me to see the Germans go on an win this.
Thoroughly deserved win. Out in their feet in the end but after the first half performance, they could have been out of sight.
I still expect Germany to rally and go far but the tournament has just come to life for me.
BTW, Ozil was his usual self
BBC going on as if Mexico are a bunch of part-timers...
