Legs like tree trunks though, some power in those, renowned for his ferocious tackling, by fair means or foul. Tough customer in his playing career (and after).

I only ever saw him play once and that was in the Aberfan Disaster Fund game at Ninian Park in 1966. His running round days were gone but he still managed to clog a few people if he got close enough and his long passing was impressive.
