Remember a campaign by the western mail / echo in 1964 to raise money for a stained glass window for a church in Alabama that had been bombed by white supremacists?
Hell no, someone mentioned it to me the other day and I'd never heard about it before

That was the incident in question, shocking.
Apparently the western mail promoted the campaign to raise money
I was 10 then, living in Risca.
So no.
No tinternet then, so it’s only just reached north Cardiff !!!!
Are they starting a “Go Fund Me” palaver then ?????
This gives more information on the Welsh contribution as well as the background. There was an article about this on the One Show last year https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-12692760

I've been carrying out some research at Cathays Library lately. They have microfilm records of old Western Mails and Echos there and, as you have the date of the incident, it shouldn't take that long to trace whether there was a campaign or not.

Just stumbled across this article about it, which mentions the paper.
