Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray is optimistic Tosin Adarabioyo and Ben Brereton will be available after missing out midweek due to injuries.
On-loan Greg Cunningham is ineligible to play against his parent club.
Cardiff midfielder Marlon Pack (hamstring) faces two months out, joining Neil Etheridge (hamstring) on the sidelines.
Callum Paterson (knee) looks likely to miss out and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (hamstring) will be assessed.

Blackburn Rovers are winless in nine games against Cardiff in all competitions (W0 D4 L5) since a 3-2 victory in the FA Cup in January 2005.
The last three Championship meetings between Blackburn and Cardiff at Ewood Park have ended 1-1.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock won four of his first five league matches against Blackburn (W4 D0 L1) but has won none of his last eight against them (W0 D6 L2).

On all betting I have this down as a straight draw. Teams have sussed out how easy it is to move the ball through City. But set pieces will save this one.

Given NML is probably out, and Whyte looks far too lightweight and weak on the ball to be playing a very tough away game which will require a lot of defensive discipline, I'd be a lot more comfortable with Hoilett than any other option. He doesn't have to play the full 90, but starting he would give us a much more stable midfield.

He is also far more defensively disciplined than any other winger we have. This is our biggest test, and lightweight players will not cut the mustard.

Where are the Blackburn fans? Where are the ball boys? This feels like watching the U18's.
Not much atmosphere at the game. Welshcake is right. It feels like a pre season friendly at the moment. Holding our own at the moment and some decent passing.
A great positive run by Ralls and unlucky not to find a man or get more from his follow up shot. Come on City!

They've handled everything well so far. Especially Morrison.
Almost 1-0 City. Hoilett ran onto a flick on and brought a good save from Walton. This is by far our best away performance so far. 3 points are there for the taking. Bogle on.
